Network Architect

At Glide, we're dedicated to providing leading, lightning-fast, and reliable connectivity solutions for students, residential developers and businesses, supported by exceptional customer service.

Glide is already the largest provider of managed internet services in the student accommodation and build-to-rent sectors, and we have a growing presence in the business and school marketplace. We are the UK and Ireland’s number one provider of student Wi-Fi, and we were recently ranked as the 4th best company in Data Infrastructure.

But to achieve our mission, we need your help. We're actively recruiting for a Network Architect to lead the technical design, definition and continued development of Glide Group's end-to-end network and IP architecture, including access, metro/MTB and customer premises networks.

Join us in shaping the future of connectivity!

Your passion for network architecture and innovation, together with your “can-do” attitude, will be your most important attributes. The following experience will also help:

  • At least five years’ experience in a data networking leadership role, ideally within an ISP or similar service provider environment.

  • Proven experience across network architecture, design and development, including Ethernet and IP data-based products and security architectures.

Your role as a Network Architect

Glide's technology solutions and unwavering focus on customer experience transform the way people live and work, and you will be a critical part of that.

As Network Architect, you will lead the technical design process for Glide Group's end-to-end network and IP architecture. You will work across Engineering, NOC, Provisioning, Project Management, Product, Support and Sales teams to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, commercially appropriate and ready for operational delivery.

A typical day might include:

  • Take on New Product Introduction, accepting that the buck stops with the architecture team to implement a new product.

  • Ensure that once the new product is onboarded and successfully transitioned to live, the solution is sufficiently documented to pass to technical delivery to become part of BAU

  • Lead the technical internal product groups by identifying and presenting their network-impacting requirements to the service activations and the network operations teams.

  • Mentor 2LS on a series of pre-agreed topics to ensure that the amount of incidents flowing to the Architect team is reduced by 90%, and continually champion this initiative.

  • Lead extensive lab testing of new architectures, platforms, and firmwares
